Baz Luhrmann remake of the amazing ‘The Great Gatsby
‘doesn’t just reproduce the 1920’s detail, but evokes the films themes and
characters detail of the lavish lifestyle in the American Society.
With a huge cast starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan,
Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher it was set to be a hit and it defiantly
succeeded!
Baz
Luhrmann created a masterpiece, the settings and locations are flawless, with exquisitely
detailed decorations. Everything right down to the floors, doors and even the
books create that 1920’s authentic feel.
The
opening credits shows the quality the film will contain with the small luxury
details.
This scene at the very beginning of the film shows just how
detailed the set is and how much effort has been in to create the film.
The first view of the ‘The Great Gatsby’ mansion.
This
picture shows how detailed the first great party was right down to alcohol
served and in the correct martini glasses!
The fashion! WOW! Every little bit of clothing in this film
scream 1920’s glamour. The dresses and suits are breathtakingly beautiful and
so detailed, with Prada dresses and Tiffany &co jewellery its every girls
dream!
The styling may not be historically accurate as the clothing
is richer and sexier but what do you expect when a director takes a modern
twist?!
The women wore a modern take on the original ‘flapper ‘dress
accessorised with feather and bejewelled headpieces, cloche hats with layers of
pearl beads and Bakelite bangles.
My favourite outfit
from the film.
The men wore tuxedos, flannel trousers with a double-breasted
vest and suit coat. The ties and bow ties look to be made from none synthetic
fibre as there was no synthetics until the 1940’s. Leonardo sports a pink pin
stripe suit in the film this is another modern take on the 1920’s fashion.
Baz Luhrmann has done a fantastic job directing this film,
it is exceptionally produced and a truly lovely story. This film is a most
watch if you haven’t seen it yet then I highly recommend it!
Soaps xx
